It’s my pleasure to announce the opening of The Women of Wonder (W.O.W!!!) Institute conveniently located in the Legacy Clover/Blossom assisted living facility in Rochester, New York. The mission of W.O.W!!! is to provide a continuum of services for older adult women ages 50+ that will enhance their well-being and provide them with a safe place to explore their second half of life. Services include: • Individual counseling services surrounding issues of aging, depression, grief, caregiving, dementia and substance abuse. Counseling will also be provided in the client’s home should transportation or disabilities make it difficult to come to the Institute. • Various women’s groups to include caregiving, therapeutic writing, spirituality, journaling, and special interest groups. In addition, a special Alcoholics Anonymous meeting for older adult women only will start in November. • Guest speakers to include local and national professionals with expertise in women and aging issues. A schedule will be announced in early 2007. • The Institute will be a 501(c)3 and hopes to be involved in collaborative research with other professional researchers in the field of women and aging by late 2007.
